Welcome

My name is Jean Leader and I live in Glasgow, Scotland, but through my lacemaking I have friends all over the world. I design, make, teach and write about lace, and have served as chairman of The Lace Guild and president of the International Organization of Lace (I.O.L.I.). In recognition of my work for lace and lacemaking I received the Marsh Heritage Crafts Volunteer Award. I have been running this personal website for about fifteen years, and also maintain a site devoted solely to describing different types of lace. You can explore my site from the section headings above, or jump straight to a topic of interest using the ‘Quick Selection’ pop-up menu, below.

My Other Website

At one time these pages contained a section describing different European lace styles. Eventually this outgrew its home, and so a separate site was created for it: Lace Types.

New and Noteworthy

Hankyu

For those of you in Japan — and anyone else who may be interested — I am happy to say that I will be demonstrating bobbin lacemaking at The British Fair in the Hankyu store in Kobe from Wednesday 10th to Tuesday 16th April.
お会いできることを楽しみにしています。
